According to the American Dental Association, in just 24 h, germs proliferate sufficiently on gums and teeth starting this gum disease. Gingivitis signs are bleeding, swollen and sore gums. If left untreated, this condition can advance to more serious gum diseases, such as acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis or periodontitis, and eventually to the destruction of bone and to tooth loss. Acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis, also named Vincent's stomatitis or trench mouth refers to a rare form of this illness when the gums become infected and ulcerated. It is usually caused by lack of oral hygiene as well as poor nutrition. Treatment Gingivitis treatment starts with good oral care and a healthy diet. Regular dental cleaning professionally done by a dentist will remove the calculus and the plaque and will reduce inflammation. You can prevent, stop and reverse gingivitis. The cause of this gum problem is not always poor oral hygiene! Unbalanced nutrition can also play an important role. Good oral care along with a balanced diet are the first steps to prevent treat and cure gingivitis. |
